Does Trimet intentionally cheat union employees out of wages?

It is alleged that Trimet has intentionally created a situation where Trimet operators don't get paid for extra  time at the job which is not included in the schedule

This has been accomplished by a lack of information to operators and cumbersome procedures that end up discouraging operators from claiming wages that they are due

This unpaid time actually amounts to millions of dollars over the years.

TRIMET: A QUESTION OF ETHICS

The mainstream media enjoys running stories about transit snafus, especially the mistakes that bus and rail operators fall into. Bus operator is one of the most misunderstood professions in America. Its very easy to make mistakes when operating a transit vehicle.

What the mainstream media hardly gives any notice to is the behavior and foul ups of the people running the bureaucracy. Very few stories appear in the mainstream about management screw ups

And there has been no comprehensive coverage looking deep into management culture at Trimet.
This article looks at some of the stories that concern the executive culture at Trimet

The  question that should be asked is can we trust the people in charge of our transit system to do the right thing?

The short answer is no:

ATU 757 SUFFERS HUGE SETBACK-JEFF ACKERSON RESIGNS

I have been informed that the union representative that worked with me for years fighting Trimet tyranny has resigned his position due to a dispute with other union leaders. This is a huge disappointment to me personally and once again makes me question the leadership of our union. One of the best spokesmen for the union is forced to resign due to the union. It needs to be pointed out here that our union has failed us miserably. All though ATU has won various court rulings none of those victories have culminated in anything for its members except for the COLA ruling. Granted that TRIMET has no problem using tax payer funds to continually appeal every single ruling and is obstructionist as well as  devious in its methods, the employees and retirees are paying more for less and it appears there is nothing the union can do about any of it. TRIMET holds all the cards true, but there has to be some way to get to them to be more reasonable with this contract negotiation. Sometimes I wonder if the union leaders have the same mindset as the Trimet executives; I HAVE MINE YOU GET YOURS. Nevertheless the loss of Jeff Ackerson is a huge blow to union members and being at the hands of other union leaders it brings into question their judgement. ATU 757 is not the union leaders personal property any more than TRIMET is the personal property of the trimet execs. Both sets of leaders appear to think otherwise

KOIN'S JEFF GIANOLA TAKES ON TRIMET EXECUTIVE PORK AND SECRET RAISES

This is a list of all the stories and commentary on the KOIN hard hitting investigation on Trimet Pork and the executive raises that were handed out at the exact same time that those same executives cut bus service to low income riders!

The series created a fire storm with Trimet denying responsibility (did you expect anything else from them) and numerous Trimet fans screaming "unfair" because of various technicalities.

The bottom line on Gianola's report is it exposed wasteful and bloated executive  management  at the Portland transit agency.

It is one of the absolute best investigative series on Trimet in the history of television reporting on the subject.

TRIMET BOARD OF DIRECTORS SAY RAISES ARE GREAT

These board members seem immune from any public sentiment.
The entire public is outraged but these clueless Trimet board members seem oblivious to the firestorm.

Mcfarlane dragging down Trimet into oblivion

This man has done so much damage, has acted with so much arrogance, its absolutely astounding.
The board of directors has shown over and over they care nothing about the public or the employees of Trimet.
It's a scene from a Fellini movie its so absurd. Yet there he sits, still in charge.
He has wandered into fraud territory by yanking raises out of the contingency budget.
The man has the ethic of an international banker, all about him and his circle of hacks.

TRIMET DRIVER CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT-Mult Cty Case No. 1301-00923.

This is an issue that affects all Trimet drivers. You can make your claim for payment from this class action lawsuit by filing these two pieces of paperwork. Trimet cannot retaliate against any Trimet employee for joining this suit. (If you don't sign up as a plaintiff you get nothing if the case comes in for us)
